Winter sore throat “tea”- In a jar combine lemon slices, organic honey and sliced ginger. Close jar and put it in the fridge, it will form into a “jelly”. To serve- spoon jelly into mug and pour boiling water over it. Store in fridge 2-3 months. Not winter yet. But I get sore throats a lot and I like home remedies and kitchen witchery.
Keeping this in mind once cold and flu season starts up.
sprinkling in a pinch of cayenne pepper will basically punch any cold symptoms in the face too
And for these kinda things you have to think up ad campaigns early.
Right now ‘vote Joan - because my old lady name gives me wisdom and authority’ is on the drawing board.

How to: Freeze & Preserve Fresh Herbs in Olive Oil
1. Choose fresh herbs from the market or your own garden.
2. You can chop them well, or leave on branches and leaves. In the photo, the herbs are finely chopped.
3. Place on trays of ice cubes (about 2/3 full of herbs).4. You can mix herbs (sage, thyme, rosemary).
5. Place extra virgin olive oil or unsalted melted butter over the herbs.
6. Cover with plastic and freeze.
7. Remove frozen cubes and store in small containers or bags to freeze.
8. Do not forget to label each container or bag with the type of herbs (and oil) inside

I Pretend To Work, Andy Smith
After posting about the Waitrose Magazine illustration earlier, I took a look through Andy’s portfolio and found more terrific lettering illustrations.
Based in Hastings on the south coast of England, he graduated from the Royal College of Art in London. His work aims to capture “humour, energy and optimism” and are produced to achieve a handmade, tactile feel.
Above is a limited edition, varnished silkscreen print and a set of greetings cards produced for Nineteen Seventy Three that feature a good cross section of his lettering prints.

I just want to spend my days in sky-scraper heels and perfectly cut dresses, chain smoking lipstick-stained cigarettes and knocking back fruity cocktails and schmoozing with intelligent, creative, fascinating people and laughing loudly and uproariously and learning new things and flirting furiously and having wild, satisfying sex and writing things that make people feel more than human. Is that so much to ask? A life of poor, glamorous artistry? Urghhh.
